Without Purpose

“To me, photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place...I’ve found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them” - Elliott Erwitt.

Photography has taught me that “uninteresting” things can be very interesting. This project came together unexpectedly. It is a mixture of various ideas which were disconnected from one another, yet I felt they needed to be presented in some manner.

Everything in these images is ordinary. But so is everyday life. Despite the everyday routine, there is always something that sparkles. There are things which catch our eye, whether they are places or objects, these things somehow make us look twice. It may be a feeling we get or a color, a shadow, a pattern, whatever it is. These mundane things are no longer mundane, becoming something worthy of examination. Perhaps someone will also see something within these images. It is an intimate experience to me, which I can share with others.
